Lords of Design, a lawn maintenance and landscape service company in Phoenix, was conceived in 1988, when co-owner Mike Strom was just a young boy performing duties for his father’s landscape business. Mike created Lords of Design based on a simple phrase his father once told him, “pay now or pay later.”

With that in the back of his mind and landscape maintenance jobs carrying him through junior and senior high school, he was able to save money and pay his way through college. Being a native of Arizona, Mike gained the knowledge of the seasons and climates that pose challenges to everyday landscape maintenance and design.

Shortly after college, Mike began to branch out into the design side of landscaping. He worked for companies that focused their efforts on the construction and installation side of the landscape business. Still doing this today, Lords of Design has extensive knowledge of all areas of landscaping from lawn services to design.

Twenty-three years later, the diligence Mike learned as a child lives on with the creation of his own lawn maintenance and landscape business in Phoenix, AZ. He has partnered with his friend and landscape colleague Don Hebbring to create Lords of Design. Don was an easy fit from the beginning with his extensive knowledge of irrigation systems, plant material, and masonry/hardscape features.

Don moved from a small town in Wisconsin about 15 years ago to pursue a new venture. He and Mike met while working together at one of the construction and installation companies. Coming into the business with a Hospitality and Tourism degree, Don understands the importance of customer service in the maintenance and design field.

Lords of Design combines their understanding of Mother Nature’s dynamics in the Phoenix Valley with their passion for her beauty to keep your lawn, plants, trees and yards looking their very best all year round – and for years to come!
